நான் எழுதுகிறேன். நீங்களும் உங்கள் எண்ணங்களைப் பகிருங்கள். சேர்ந்து கற்போம்;

மீண்டும் அடுத்த வெள்ளிக்கிழமை சந்திப்போம்.

அன்புடன், மோகன் நடராஜன்

A New Beginning in Tamil, a Language I Love

For the past two years, I have been writing regularly in English on LinkedIn under the title “Leaders Reflections.” Throughout that writing journey, I have also wanted to write in Tamil, a language I love.

For a long time, I have followed DCKAP founder Karthik Chidambaram ’s handwritten Tamil letters, published as “ஞாயிறு கடிதம்” (Sunday Letter). His writing gave me further encouragement to pursue that wish.

My love for Tamil goes back to childhood. I studied in Tamil, and growing up, it was the only language I could read and write. It was the language of my education and the way I expressed my thoughts in writing.

As life moved on to college and work, my opportunities to read and write in Tamil became fewer. Once I started working, I used English much more. Even when I had opportunities to speak in Tamil, those conversations were mostly about work or our industry.

Now, I want to write in Tamil again. Every Friday, I hope to share what I learn from everyday life, work, friends, and relationships. That is why I am starting “எனது சிந்தனைகள்” (My Thoughts).

We can express our thoughts in English too. But when I write in Tamil, my mother tongue, I can say what I want more easily and quickly. I can express my thoughts and intentions in words that feel familiar and close to me.

Writing in Tamil will also be a learning journey for me.

I have forgotten some Tamil words simply because I no longer use them every day. While writing, I may not immediately remember the Tamil equivalent of an English word. Finding that word, understanding its meaning, and using it will help me improve my Tamil. Someone reading it may discover that word for the first time too.

I see writing as an opportunity to clarify my thoughts and rediscover words I have forgotten.

Friends who know Tamil can read the original. For friends whose mother tongue is another language and who do not know Tamil, I also want to share an English translation. Whatever the language, I hope the experiences and lessons I share will reach everyone.

Your support and feedback will help me along the way. Tell me what memories a post brings back, which ideas you agree with, and what you see differently.

I will keep writing. Please share your thoughts too. Let’s learn together.

See you again next Friday.
